PALEMBANG, SRIWIJAYAPLUS, COM – Potensi besar perikanan di Sungai Kelekar yang membentang sepanjang Desa Burai sebagai sumber perekonomian rakyat. Sangat menggelitik untuk dilakukan usaha budidaya ikan rawa.
Hal ini untuk keberlangsungan populasi ikan rawa di alam. Tim Pengabdian Program Studi Pengairan, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Sriwijaya (Unsri) menggelar workshop mengembangkan usaha budidaya ikan rawa khususnya ikan selincah di kelompok pembudidaya ikan di Desa Burai, Kabupaten Ogan Komering Ilir (OKI).
Harapannya, para petani ikan tersebut memiliki peluang besar untuk dapat berkembang dan menjadi sumber penghasilan yang menjanjikan.
“Pelatihan kita lakukan untuk mengatasi masalah yang dialami oleh Masyarakat Desa Burai dalam budidaya perikanan di Sungai Kelekar. Kami melihat mereka masih memiliki keterbatasan pengetahuan dalam penguasaan teknologi domestikasi ikan rawa liar ke lingkungan terkontrol sehingga ikan rawa yang dipelihara masih banyak mengalami kematian,” kata Tanbiyaskur, S.Pi., M.Si. selaku ketua Tim PKM Program Studi Perairan, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Sriwijaya, Jumat 23 September 2022.
Keberhasilan domestikasi ikan selincah yang dipelihara pada lingkungan terkontrol akan menjadi langkah awal untuk pengembangan produksi calon induk.
Proses pembenihan dan produksi benih ikan selincah yang pada akhirnya dapat digunakan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan ikan selincah sebagai ikan konsumsi.
“Selain itu sangat berguna dalam mengembangkan wisata pemancingan dan ekowisata di Desa Burai. Hal inilah yang menjadi alasan Tim PKM ini melaksanakan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat di Desa Burai”, katanya.
