Kepala Balitbangda Sumsel, Dr. Drs. Alamsyah, MPd., katakan kegiatan ini dilaksanakan dalam rangka menjaring ide dan gagasan yang merupakam kreativitas masyarakat Sumsel demi kemajuan daerah untuk mewujudkan Sumsel Maju Untuk Sumua melalui inovasi.
Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan setelah seleksi melalui lomba inovator Sumsel. Diikuti total 688 peserta. Pemenang terdiri atas 17 kategori yang meliputi berbagai antara lain bidang pendidikan, perkebunan, pertanian, bumdes, kesehatan, koperasi, umkm, pengabdian masyarakat, pemerintahan, dan pengembangan keluarga.
Dalam kesempatan itu, Juara 1 mendapatkan hadiah Rp2.500.000., Juara 2, Rp. 2.000.000., dan Juara 3, Rp. 1.750.000.
