SRIWIJAYAPLUS.COM – Dari namanya, pasar di kota Palembang ini sangat menyeramkan. Namanya, Pasar Pocong. Pasar Pocong ini berlokasi di Jalan Telaga Swidak, Kelurahan 14 Ulu, Kecamatan SU II Palembang.
Sebagian masyarakat kota Palembang belum banyak mengetahui keberadaan pasar pocong ini.
Keberadaan pasar ini pun sangat menyeramkan kerana terletak di tengah Tempat Pemakaman Umum (TPU) Telaga Swidak.
Walaupun lokasinya di tengah area pemakaman, tidak menjadi penghalang bagi pasar ini menjadi terkenal di kota Palembang.
Asal mula diberi nama Pasar Pocong
Sebelum diberi nama pasar pocong, dulunya pasar tersebut dikenal warga sebagai Pasar Pagi Naga Swidak.
Karena lokasinya ditengah-tengah kuburan, dengan spontan masyarakat menyebutnya dengan Pasar Pocong. Jadi, bukan karena pria bernama zul sebagai perintisnya, melainkan masyarakatlah yang memberi nama tersebut.
“Tidak tahu juga kenapa diberi nama Pasar Pocong ini. Setahu saya dulunya nama pasar ini Pasar Pagi Naga Swidak. Ada kemungkinan, karena pasar ini terletak di tengah kuburan. Seiring berjalannya waktu, masyarakat banyak menyebutnya dengan sebutan Pasar Pocong,” terang Zul perintis berdirinya Pasar Pocong.
Zul bercerita awal mula berdirinya Pasar Poncong ini dikarenakan masalah pribadi dalam hal perbelanjaan.
Saat itu dirinya kerepotan untuk berbelanja ke pasar. Karena, dirinya dan istri untuk berbelanja kebutuhan sehari-hari harus ke pasar Silaberanti yang cukup jauh dari tempat tinggalnya.
