JAKARTA, SRIWIJAYAPLUS.COM – Telkomsel melalui inisiatif aksi Corporate Social Responsibility, Telkomsel Jaga Bumi, meluncurkan Program Carbon Offset, (14/12).

Melalui program yang berkolaborasi bersama platform Jejakin, pelanggan Telkomsel dapat menukarkan Telkomsel Poin yang dimiliki menjadi kontribusi yang setara dengan sebatang pohon untuk mengimbangi carbon footprint (jejak karbon) yang timbul sebagai konsekuensi dari aktivitas keseharian manusia.

” Ini komitmen melanjutkan peran terdepan dalam mengurangi dampak negatif terhadap perubahan iklim dan mengkompensasi emisi karbon,” kata Vice President Corporate Communications Telkomsel Saki Hamsat Bramono, Senin 19 Desember 2022.

Program Carbon Offset merupakan wujud komitmen Telkomsel sebagai digital ecosystem enabler dalam membuka lebih banyak peluang bagi seluruh pelanggan melalui environmental movement.

Carbon offset merupakan berbagai upaya yang dilakukan untuk menyerap carbon footprint (jejak karbon) dihasilkan dan memitigasi dampak-dampak negatif tersebut.

Salah satu upaya carbon offset yang dapat kita lakukan adalah dengan mengadopsi pohon dan mendukung keberlangsungan hidup masyarakat adat yang menjaga hutan.

Sedangkan berbagai aktivitas manusia, mulai dari penggunaan bahan bakar fosil, pengubahan fungsi lahan, pengolahan limbah, hingga pekerjaan industri, menghasilkan carbon footprint, atau jejak karbon.

Bentuknya emisi gas yang dapat menyebabkan efek rumah kaca, seperti gas karbondioksida (CO2) dan gas polusi lainnya di atmosfer.

Dalam hitungan dasawarsa hingga jutaan tahun ke depan, carbon footprint yang berlebih akan menimbulkan dampak negatif terhadap iklim, suhu udara, hingga curah hujan, dan memengaruhi hidup kita semua. Inisiatif Telkomsel Jaga Bumi melangsungkan kolaborasi dengan platform Jejakin melalui Program Carbon Offset, yang bertujuan mengimbangi dampak carbon footprint kita dengan penanaman pohon yang dapat menyerap CO2 dan memproduksi oksigen (O2).
